The right to one's own mental and cognitive interpretation. The wing where the diagnostic label is the speech act and the speech act is the harm.

Psychiatric, disability, and neurodivergent paternalism converge on a single question: who holds the right to describe a person's mind. The DSM, the asylum, the ABA clinic, the forced treatment apparatus, and the institutional vocabulary of deficit are all answers to that question that the patient was not invited to give. This wing collects the answers and reads them back as institutional speech.

Three galleries are planned. The Diagnostic Label as Institutional Speech. The Forced Treatment Apparatus. The Deficit Framing. Each will open with three to four exhibits. The wing benefits especially from acquisitions sourced by people inside the communities the wing documents.

The curator does not hold subject-matter authority across every population this wing addresses. The wing's full opening depth will arrive as co-curators are recruited and as the relevant patient communities choose to contribute. The wing is therefore the most actively-soliciting space in the museum at launch.
